Family Day 2021 weekend set with an Active Art Adventure twist

News Release

The City of Penticton and Spectra Venue Management will be hosting its fifth annual Family Day celebration, however the festivities will look different this year in keeping with Provincial Health Guidelines.

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with Spectra again to provide our residents with an activity this long weekend, even if it looks different from our regular festivities,” said Manager of Recreation, Arts & Culture, Kelsey Johnson. “Our Family Day is normally filled with skating at the South Okanagan Events Centre, swimming at the Penticton Community Centre and a movie at the Cleland Theatre. Of course, with the continued presence of the pandemic we couldn’t make that an option this year, but we still wanted to provide our residents with a safe and healthy activity.”

Members of the public are invited to explore the City’s 22 public art sculptures with their household bubble using the Active Art Adventure bingo sheet to mark off each art piece visited, take pictures along the way and use the hashtag #PenFamilyDay to enter into a contest to win a 90 minute skate for one household at the South Okanagan Events Centre (terms and conditions apply). Other prizes from local partners will also be available for participants to win. The contest will run from February 12 to February 15, 2021.

“Staying active and healthy is more important than ever, so bundle up, head out and make some great Family Day memories this long weekend!”

For more information about this contest, please call the Penticton Community Centre at 250-490-2426 or visit the event on the City of Penticton’s Facebook page.

This Family Day activity was made possible thanks to the support of the B.C. government.
