The City of Penticton is entering the final weeks of its 2026 construction season following significant investments in roads, utilities, parks and active transportation infrastructure throughout the community.
While several projects will continue through November, crews are working to complete as much construction as possible before winter conditions arrive. Residents can expect ongoing activity at various locations, including paving, utility work and site restoration.
- Work continues along Lakeshore Drive, where crews are replacing a critical section of raw water main. Paving and restoration activities are also underway on Lakeshore Drive and Riverside Drive.
- Work on the SS Sicamous shoreline restoration project will begin Nov. 2. The project includes replacing aging timber pile walls with rock armour to help protect the waterfront for years to come.
- In the coming weeks, crews will begin repaving the Ellis Street roundabout. Additional information about schedules and traffic impacts will be shared before construction begins.
Temporary traffic changes, lane reductions and detours may be required as projects progress. Motorists should expect changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to allow extra travel time. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained wherever possible.
Residents are reminded to follow posted construction signage, obey traffic control personnel and reduce speeds in construction zones. Taking a few extra moments to travel safely helps protect workers, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
The City appreciates the community's patience and cooperation throughout a busy construction season. As the construction season winds down, these projects mark important investments in Penticton's future, helping improve essential infrastructure, transportation networks and public spaces for the long term. The City thanks residents for their patience as crews work to complete these improvements before winter.
