Residents have an opportunity to provide feedback on the concepts for McNicoll Park.
The City of Penticton is inviting community members to review several layout concepts and complete an online survey by August 16. Feedback will help identify a preferred concept and guide future improvements to the popular neighbourhood park.
Earlier this year, residents, user groups and park visitors shared ideas about how McNicoll Park could better support recreation, sports and community use. That feedback has been used to develop several concept options, which include potential improvements to the sports field, running track and surrounding park areas.
The concepts are being explored as part of planning for an irrigation system renewal in the western portion of the park. The project creates an opportunity to consider enhancements to nearby recreation spaces before the new irrigation system is designed and installed.
"Thank you to everyone who shared feedback during the first round of engagement," says Ysabel Contreras, Parks Capital Projects Supervisor. "The concepts reflect the key themes we heard from the community and user groups. People told us it's important that McNicoll Park continues to support both organized sports and everyday recreation, favouring minimal enhancements."
Located at 1051 Penticton Ave., McNicoll Park serves nearby neighbourhoods, L'école Entre Lacs School and users of the Penticton Creek Pathway.
Residents can review the concepts and complete the survey at shapeyourcitypenticton.ca/mcnicoll-park. The survey is open until August 16, 2026.
