Join us for the official opening of the new Skaha Splash Pad

News Release

The City of Penticton is inviting you to attend the opening celebration of the new Skaha Splash Pad, on Friday, June 20 at 3 p.m.

This event celebrates the collaboration between the City of Penticton, Rotary Club, Penticton Indian Band and the En’owkin Centre, whose efforts have brought the innovative new design to life. The design was developed in conjunction with the En’owkin Centre and features a variety of interactive and inclusive water features, including animal-themed spray cannons, a soaker dumping bucket, ground sprays and a spray tunnel.

The grand opening event will feature an official program starting at 3 p.m., which includes a traditional blessing, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a variety of activities for children.

Additionally, the event will acknowledge the new Skaha Lake Park sign that incorporates traditional language, a first step for future signage across the City.

"The Skaha Splash Pad is a wonderful addition to our community, and it stands as a testament to the power of collaboration,” says Mayor Julius Bloomfield. "We are grateful to the Penticton Indian Band and the En’owkin Centre for their invaluable contributions. This project not only enhances our park but also strengthens our cultural connections. Additionally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club of Penticton for their significant donation of $151k, which was crucial in bringing this project to life."

Funding for this project includes contributions from the Canada Community-Building Fund, Connected Communities, and the donation from the Rotary Club of Penticton.
