Penticton Fire Department cautions residents on firework use this Halloween

Service Announcement

Having a spooktacular Halloween doesn’t mean skimping on safety. The Penticton Fire Department is reminding residents that they must follow the bylaws that are in place when it comes to the use of fireworks.

Members of the community are also advised that the use of fireworks by untrained individuals may result in unnecessary injuries. This Halloween, teach children that fireworks are not toys and that they’re unsafe to pick up. If found, children should leave fireworks on the ground and report them to an adult.

Please note, the Fire and Life Safety Bylaw requires anyone who wants to put on a firework display to obtain a permit from the Penticton Fire Department. It is illegal to sell, manufacture or discharge fireworks without a permit.
