Penticton’s bike valet secures funding to continue free service

News Release

The City of Penticton is pleased to announce that residents and visitors can continue to use the City’s free bike valet service for the remainder of summer thanks to receiving the BC Bike Valet grant.

The grant, funded by the Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) and delivered through the BC Cycling Coalition (BCCC), will support the service in continuing to operate free of charge through to September 6. The Bike Valet grant is provided as part of a province-wide initiative to support active transportation in communities across British Columbia. The City’s bike valet program offers secure, staffed parking for bikes, e-bikes, scooters, strollers and more at special events across the city.

“Penticton is proud to support active transportation and making it easier for residents and visitors to leave their cars at home,” says Mayor Bloomfield. “The continuation of the free bike valet is more than just a convenience - it’s a step toward a healthier, more sustainable community. By encouraging people to walk, bike, or roll to events, we’re reducing emissions, promoting physical activity, and creating a safer, more connected city for everyone.”

“The BC Cycling Coalition is thrilled to help bring this service to Penticton with the support of the Ministry of Transportation and Transit,” said Jen Petersen, Executive Director of the BCCC. “Everyone should feel confident choosing active transportation for their daily trips, and this service helps ensure that safe, secure parking is available to riders of all ages and abilities.”
