Approval of the Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Area levy provides the foundation for a resurgence of the City’s core following two years of pandemic restrictions.
“Penticton has a dynamic downtown but many small businesses have suffered over the past couple of years,” says Acting Mayor Judy Sentes. “Today’s approval of the levy, working with the Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Area, allows everyone to turn their attention to rebuilding and growing this vital part of our community.”
Council confirmed the new levy – which will be in place for five years – after a petition-against process to determine support was conducted.
“The DPBIA board of directors and staff would like to thank the downtown property and business owners for continuing to support the organization. We are looking forward to working together for another five years bringing economic vibrancy to our downtown through events, programs and business supports,” says DPBIA executive director Lynn Allin.
The Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Area represents approximately 500 properties throughout the city’s downtown core.
