The City of Penticton is inviting the community to attend the 2022-2023 Public Sculpture Exhibition which will take place Saturday, May 21 with a reception and opportunity to meet the artist talks at the Penticton City Hall front steps at 10 am.
“This annual program is another fun and cultural event that helps kick off the warm weather season here in Penticton,” said Recreation Business Supervisor, Cheryl Wiebe. “We are excited to welcome the addition of another art piece to the view along the walkway.”
Established in 2016, Penticton’s Public Sculpture Exhibition is a year-long event designed to showcase sculptures outdoors for the community to enjoy. This year’s exhibit showcases artists from around British Columbia and will be on display from May 2022 to April 2023.
“We hope that the community will join us in kicking off the seventh year of this exhibit and meeting the artists this upcoming long weekend.”
The 2022 program will showcase eight pieces and the official opening will take place on the steps of City Hall Saturday, May 21 at 10 am. At the opening, walking maps will be distributed and artists will be at their sculptures for the community to meet and ask questions about each piece. A virtual walking app as well as bios and additional background on the artists are available on www.penticton.ca/publicart.
