The boat launch at Skaha Lake Marina will be closed from Oct. 11 to Nov. 2, 2022 to allow for the construction of a new ramp.
The replacement ramp will be wider and extend further into the lake, providing a safer and easier launch site for boat owners.
As part of this project, the existing launch will be closed to allow for environmental controls, including creating a silt barrier to prevent turbidity from leaching into the lake. The ramp will be removed, site excavated, and new concrete mats installed with a large crane.
Boaters are reminded of the two other launches available on Skaha Lake, located in Kaleden and Okanagan Falls.
Meanwhile, redevelopment of the Skaha Lake Marina is progressing, with construction set to begin this fall. Earlier this year, Council agreed to a 25-year agreement with the Penticton Yacht Club to operate the marina. For information about the Skaha Marina project, visit penticton.ca/skahamarina.
