State of Local Emergency declared due to ongoing safety risk at Green Avenue site

Statement

The City of Penticton has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) due to the ongoing incident at 453 Green Avenue.

The City of Penticton has declared a local state of emergency in order to issue an evacuation order for 10 properties.  

The 10 properties are located at 435, 402, 410, 420, 430, 440, 450, 399, 375, 395 Green Avenue W. Residents located outside the evacuation area are free to return home but are advised to follow all traffic control personnel.

The public is asked to stay clear of the area to allow crews to continue their response efforts.

Any residents impacted by the fire, who may require Emergency Support Services, can call 250-486-1890 between 8:30 and 6 p.m.

Current Situation
•    State of Local Emergency declared 
•    10 homes are under evacuation order until further notice 
•    Crews continue to respond to fire related activity on-site 
•    ESS has been activated for those impacted by the fire
•    The City will provide an update tomorrow morning.
