Thousands expected at Skaha Lake Park for Dragon Boat Festival

Service Announcement

Thousands of visitors from all over western Canada will be gathering at Skaha Lake Park this weekend for the Penticton Dragon Boat Festival.

Residents are reminded to anticipate extra congestion at the park on Saturday and Sunday, Sep. 6-7, and to consider alternate boat launches in Kaleden and Okanagan Falls. The boat trailer parking at Skaha will be very limited and there will be no day use beach parking available. More details about boat launches can be found at penticton.ca/boat-launch.

The event is open to the public and residents are invited to join in the action and cheer on the boats. The festival also includes food trucks, a vendors’ market and beverage garden.

This year's event features 81 boats and 2,100 athletes, plus spectators.

With limited on-site parking available, consider walking, using transit or riding bikes. The City’s Sustainability team will be providing a free bike valet service on both days at the park from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
