Drivers are advised to allow extra time and prepare for traffic delays in the coming days as construction temporarily moves to two key intersections along Eckhardt Avenue.
On Wednesday, March 11, northbound traffic on Main Street will be reduced to a single lane, with minor delays expected. This work is required to begin water main and traffic signal upgrades.
On Thursday, March 12, starting at 9 a.m., the intersection of Eckhardt Avenue and Government Street will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic to accommodate a major excavation.
Traffic control personnel will be on-site directing vehicles safely through the intersection at Government Street. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible and take alternate routes – or prepare for delays. This work is part of preparations for future construction that will continue in the coming months.
The City will issue further updates in the coming days and weeks, with all information also posted on the website at penticton.ca/eckhardt.
