Wildfire season is here. Are you prepared?

Service Announcement

Wildfire and Emergency Preparedness Day takes place April 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gyro Park in Penticton. The event is free to attend and open to all ages. Residents are invited to attend Wildfire and Emergency Preparedness Day to learn simple, practical steps to help protect your home, your family and your neighbourhood.

The free, family-friendly event will feature emergency preparedness resources, FireSmart tips for homes and properties, demonstrations and giveaways.

A barbecue by donation will also be available, thanks to the Penticton Firefighters Charitable Society.

The City of Penticton is partnering with a range of local organizations to deliver the event, including the Penticton Emergency Program, BC Wildfire Service, the Community Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grants Program, the Penticton Amateur Radio Club, FireSmart BC Plant Program, Emergency Support Services and the Animal Lifeline Emergency Response Team.

A special thank you goes to Gardenworks for providing a plant demonstration display to help residents learn about FireSmart-friendly landscaping options.

Take the first step toward building a safer, more resilient Penticton.
