Yard waste collection will resume the week of March 2 – 6, 2020, for all Penticton residents with curbside waste collection. Yard waste is picked up bi-weekly in the City-issued yard waste cart on your regular day of collection. To ensure yard waste is collected, place your waste at the curb by 7:00am on your regular day of collection.
When filling your City-issued yard waste cart, please keep the following in mind:
- Only plant materials are accepted, such as grass clippings, leaves, plant trimmings, branches, pine needles and cones
- Non-organic materials are not accepted such as plastic bags, biodegradable plastics, garden hoses, soil bags, plant pots, etc.
- Please do not compact the materials into the cart as it may not empty when tipped
- Put all yard waste loosely into the cart and ensure the lid remains closed
“Proper disposal of yard waste is important to residents,” said David Kassian, Community Sustainability Coordinator. “By ensuring that plastic and garbage stays out of the yard waste stream, it keeps collection costs down and contributes to a healthier environment.”
Spring unlimited yard waste collection dates will be March 30 – April 3, and April 27 – May 1, 2020.
