During the months of January and February, yard waste collection is temporarily suspended due to cold weather. Garbage will continue to be collected each week and recycling will be picked up bi-weekly.
During weeks of garbage-only collection, carts will be emptied earlier than normal as the collection truck is only picking up one waste stream. If your garbage and recycling is not collected due to winter weather, please report any missed collections to Waste Connections of Canada by telephone at 250-490-3888, or by emailing csrpenticton@wasteconnections.com. Please also keep the following in mind if your waste is not collected:
- Keep your carts at their designated collection point until the garbage truck can safely return.
- Ensure the area around the carts is free of snow and access by the truck is not blocked.
- If your garbage is not collected on the same week, residents can place an extra bag of garbage beside their carts on the following week.
In order to ensure your waste is always collected, please have your carts at their collection point no later than 7:00am on your scheduled pickup day.
To keep track of important dates and to learn about garbage and recycling services, download or pick up a copy of the 2021-2022 Collection Schedule. Online collection schedules can be found on www.penticton.ca, and paper copies can be picked up at City Hall or City Yards.
Consider signing up for automated garbage, recycling, and yard waste reminders by visiting www.penticton.ca/garbagereminder. This free service will notify you the day before collection so you can set the right carts out for pickup.
