Change of timing for budget deliberations

News Release

With the upcoming municipal election, the City will be shifting the timing of budget deliberations and the public engagement process.

“Staff has already begun the preliminary work on next year’s budget,” says Angela Campbell, the City of Penticton’s Director of Finance and Administration. “It’s important, though, that we allow the council that will be elected October 15th time to provide direction on the priorities they want incorporated into the 2023 draft Financial Plan.”

Normally, a two-week public engagement process would precede budget deliberations which would occur in November. This year, the public engagement process will begin at the end of February.

Budget deliberations by Council are set for the middle of March with adoption of the Financial Plan Bylaw set tentatively for April 18, 2023.
