Penticton officially has a new City Council.
Mayor Julius Bloomfield and Councillors Amelia Boultbee, Isaac Gilbert, Ryan Graham, Helena Konanz, James Miller and Campbell Watt all took the oath tonight at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.
“Penticton residents have put their trust in us to lead the city for the next four years and to make the decisions that will see us become a safer, healthier and growing community,” says Bloomfield. “There’s a lot of work ahead of us, some big challenges to tackle and we’re all ready to get down to work. We’ve heard what the issues are and now we begin to find the answers together.”
Following the oaths of office being taken, council dealt with two orders of businesses.
First was the appointment of Councillor Watt as deputy mayor for six months, followed by Councillor Konanz for another six months. The appointment process will be reassessed in October 2023.
As well, five members of council have been appointed to the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen board: Mayor Bloomfield and Councillors Miller, Graham, Konanz and Watt. Councillors Gilbert and Boultbee will serve as alternates.
