Temporary entrance to City Hall while light displays installed

Service Announcement

The City of Penticton is expanding its holiday lights displays this year, with new decorations planned to deck City Hall.

In order to safely install the 2,600 feet of lighting and new rooftop decorations, the sidewalk, parking stalls and main entrance on Main Street directly in front of City Hall will be closed all day from Nov. 9-10, 2022.

Signs will be in place to direct visitors to the rear parking lot and temporary entrance. Considering this entrance doesn’t have a ramp for wheelchair/stroller access, anyone requiring mobility assistance is asked to contact the City in advance by phoning 250-490-2400 so accommodations can be made to access the front entrance.

Note that work will continue on Friday, Nov. 11, and the area will be cordoned off for safety reasons. However, City Hall will be closed for Remembrance Day.

More lights downtown

In addition, residents can expect to see decorations throughout the downtown shopping core, including along Main Street, Westminster Avenue, Martin Street and Nanaimo Square. The trees along Front Street and some along Marina Way will also be lit up for the season.

Attend the Downtown Light Up Festival

The greenspace next to the outdoor rink behind City Hall will also illuminated with lights, which will be switched on as part of the Downtown Light Up Festival on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 5-7 p.m. This event is organized by the Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Association, with details available at downtownpenticton.org
