City inviting comments on proposed Zoning Bylaw Updates

News Release

The City is updating its Zoning Bylaw to incorporate recommendations from its Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP) and residents are invited to provide their comments on the proposed updates.

“Council endorsed the CCAP in 2021, which outlines the City’s climate targets and identifies strategies to support moving toward a low-carbon future,” said Blake Laven, Director of Development Services with the City of Penticton. “The Zoning Bylaw is one tool to that can be used to implement the goals of this plan.”

In addition to other minor updates throughout the bylaw, three major amendments are proposed to accelerate the adoption of zero-emissions vehicles, encourage active transportation and support building to higher BC Energy Step Code requirements.

Before the amendments are considered for adoption, the City is inviting residents to review and comment on the changes at www.shapeyourcitypenticton.ca. A summary of changes table is available, or you can review the changes page by page and add your thoughts. Submit your comments by February 26, 2023.
