HaHaHa Kidzfest and Colour4Kids Run set to draw extra crowds downtown

Service Announcement

Watch for extra foot traffic and road closures in downtown Penticton throughout the coming days, with two events geared toward children and families anticipated to draw large crowds.

HaHaHa Kidzfest takes place Thursday, June 6, until Saturday, June 8, at Gyro Park. A section of Martin Street between Estabrook Avenue and Lakeshore Drive will be closed on Thursday and Friday daytime for school buses to safely drop off students. That section will remain open to local residents only.

The festival is a ticketed event and will be fenced off. While Martin Street will be open Saturday, residents are reminded that the 100 and 200-blocks of Main Street will be closed as usual for the Penticton Farmers’ Market and Downtown Community Market. On Sunday, June 9, Wildstone Construction group’s Colours 4 Kids Run will draw hundreds of participants to run along the waterfront.

Lakeshore Drive and Riverside Drive are closed between Churchill Avenue and Front Street from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., with no parking available along that stretch of Okanagan Lake during that time. Local traffic will be able to access Lakeshore Drive properties.

This all-ages event starts outside LocoLanding Adventure Park at 10 a.m. All drivers should watch for signage and traffic control personnel. For more information about this event, visit wildstone.com/run.

Also this week, School District 67 is hosting an Early Years Community Fair at Marina Way Park on Thursday evening (4:30-6:30 p.m.) for families with children under age five. It’s a chance to connect with elementary schools, community partners and other families in the area, with free entertainment, stories and more.
