Day of Mourning Ceremony set for Marina Way Park

Service Announcement

The public is invited to attend the Day of Mourning ceremony on Monday, April 28, 2025, to remember those who have died or been injured on the job.

In 2024, 146 B.C. workers died from a workplace injury or disease. This event serves to honour those that have lost their lives or suffered an injury or illness due to their work, while recognizing the importance of committing to safe, healthy and inclusive workspaces for everyone.

The event will be held at Marina Way Park from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Representatives from the City, RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, CUPE 608, the Penticton Fire Department and WorkSafeBC will speak and place a carnation in a commemorative wreath. At the end of the ceremony, the public will also be able to place carnations in remembrance.

For those unable to attend, a livestream will be available via Zoom. The link will also be available at penticton.ca on Monday morning.
