City invites feedback to help inform upcoming work at McNicoll Park

News Release

The City of Penticton is inviting residents and park users to share feedback as planning begins for a major irrigation system renewal at McNicoll Park.

The project will replace the aging irrigation system in the eastern portion of the park (as indicated within the blue project boundary in the photo below), which includes the spaces around the sports field and cinder running track. Before this work proceeds, the City is taking the opportunity to review how the recreational spaces in this area are used, ensuring the new irrigation will support current and future needs.

“This early engagement helps us confirm that the irrigation renewal aligns with how the site is used today,” says Ysabel Contreras, Parks planner. “It provides an opportunity to reassess how the track and field areas function and identify any minor adjustments that could improve usability before proceeding with the infrastructure upgrade.”

Located at 1051 Penticton Avenue, the site supports both organized sports and informal community use and is connected to surrounding neighbourhoods, L’école Entre Lacs School and the Penticton Creek Pathway.

Residents are encouraged to attend a pop-up engagement event on April 18, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and to complete an online survey by April 30, 2026, at shapeyourcitypenticton.ca/mcnicoll-park.
