You’re invited! City celebrates Public Works Week with free Open House event

News Release

(Penticton, BC – May 12, 2026) – Ever wondered how the essential services you rely on every day come together? The City’s Public Works team is inviting residents to step behind the scenes for a Public Works Week Open House on Thursday, May 21.

Residents of all ages are welcome to attend the open house at City Yards, 616 Okanagan Ave E, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free, drop in event will feature a series of outdoor stations with hands on displays highlighting a wide range of City services, including electrical, water, sewer, waste collection, parks, roadwork, transit and more.

“Our Public Works crews show up every day to keep our community safe, healthy and functioning smoothly,” says Kristen Dixon, General Manager of Infrastructure. “This event is an opportunity to meet the people who deliver your essential services, ask questions and gain a better understanding of the work that goes on behind the scenes.”

A popular destination for local school field trips, the open house is also designed for residents who are curious about how City services operate and the infrastructure that supports daily life in Penticton.

The event is held in celebration of National Public Works Week, taking place May 17-23, 2026. This year’s theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” recognizes the professionals who serve their communities.

Groups larger than 10 are asked to register in advance. For more information, visit penticton.ca/openhouse.
