The City of Penticton has now stood down its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) following last week’s structure fire on Green Avenue.
The State of Local Emergency and evacuation order were lifted on June 3, and residents were able to return home. We know this has been a difficult experience for those directly affected, and our thoughts remain with everyone impacted.
Highway 97 has fully reopened in both directions. Green Avenue has transitioned back to the control of the contractor working in the area as part of the Green Avenue Improvement Project. Please continue to follow posted detours. More information is available at penticton.ca/greenave.
Thank you
We want to sincerely thank all the first responders—Penticton Fire Rescue, RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, and partner agencies—for their quick and coordinated response.
A heartfelt thank you also goes out to our Emergency Support Services volunteers, who provided care and support to residents throughout the incident.
This will be the final update related to this incident. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation over the past week.
