The City of Penticton and Penticton RCMP are pleased to announce the opening of the new Community Safety Hub at 185 Lakeshore Drive, a dedicated waterfront location that supports community policing programs, public education, and resident engagement.
The facility is a key outcome of the Lakeshore Safety Initiative, developed through the City's Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWB), and provides a central location for community policing and outreach activities along the waterfront.
"This new Community Safety Hub gives us an opportunity to be more visible, accessible and connected to the people we serve," said Superintendent Beth McAndie, Officer in Charge of the Penticton RCMP Detachment. "Having a dedicated presence on Lakeshore Drive strengthens our ability to engage with residents, support prevention efforts, and build relationships throughout the community."
The facility will serve as the home base for programs including Citizens on Patrol, Crime Stoppers, Speed Watch, Project 529, Restorative Justice, and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). Residents can also connect with community policing staff and volunteers, access resources, and learn how to get involved.
"The Community Safety Hub is one of the visible outcomes of the Lakeshore Safety Initiative," said Julie Czeck, General Manager of Public Safety and Partnerships for the City of Penticton. "By bringing programs, partners, and community members together in one location, it helps strengthen safety and engagement along the waterfront."
Operated through a partnership between the City of Penticton and Penticton RCMP, the Community Safety Hub supports education, outreach, and volunteer-based initiatives.
The Community Safety Hub is not a police detachment and does not provide front-counter police services. Residents should continue to call 911 in an emergency and contact the Penticton RCMP detachment for operational policing matters.
The Community Safety Hub is now open at 185 Lakeshore Drive, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
