Chief Election Officer officially declares candidates for 2026 General Local Election

News Release

 The Chief Election Officer has officially declared the candidates for the 2026 General Local Election following the close of the nomination period today at 4 pm.  

A total of six candidates have been nominated to run for the office of Mayor, 19 candidates for Councillor, and five candidates for School Trustee.

The 2026 General Local Election will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, when Penticton voters will elect one Mayor, six Councillors and four School Trustees and answer one assent voting question.

Voting Dates:  

  • October 7, 2026 - Advance Voting Day #1, 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. at Penticton Community Centre Gymnasium, 325 Power Street.
  • October 10, 2026 - Advance Voting Day #2, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Skaha Lake Elementary School Gymnasium, 110 Green Avenue West.
  • October 14, 2026 – Advance Voting Day #3, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. at Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, 273 Power Street.
  • October 17, 2026 - General Voting Day, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, 273 Power Street, or at Skaha Lake Elementary School Gymnasium, 110 Green Avenue West
