UPDATE (3:15 p.m.): The sports fields and ball diamonds have now reopened.
While conditions have improved due to the warm, dry weather throughout the afternoon, some areas may still be wet or soft.
User groups are asked to exercise caution when using the fields and to avoid play or relocate activities if conditions are deemed unsafe or if damage to the playing surface may occur.
Due to significant rainfall and saturated field conditions, all City of Penticton sport fields and ball diamonds are closed today.
The fields are currently unsuitable for play and must remain closed to prevent damage and ensure safe playing conditions.
Parks staff will continue to monitor field conditions and will provide updates as soon as more information is available regarding reopening timelines.
User groups have been notified of the closure.
Residents are asked to respect all closure signage and remain off the fields to help preserve playing surfaces and support a safe return to play once conditions improve.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
