The City of Penticton is aware of public questions regarding supports available to approximately 11 individuals currently sheltering at the Fairview encampment.
Community partners have advised the City that emergency shelter space has been made available for encampment occupants, and that outreach workers will be on site on Oct. 30 to provide assistance to individuals seeking to connect with shelter, housing and support services.
The Province of British Columbia is responsible for the implementation of the court-ordered decampment and any related site remediation activities. Media inquiries regarding the injunction, decampment process and provincial response should be directed to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit.
The City encourages members of the public to respect the dignity of individuals leaving the site, and to provide outreach workers and service providers with the space necessary to carry out their work safely and efficiently.
