NEW! Call for Submissions: Community Holiday Light Display Project

The City of Penticton invites local businesses to participate in the Community Holiday Light Display Project, a festive initiative that builds on Penticton’s holiday light tradition by expanding into Rotary Park with up to five winter-themed light installations.

Program Requirements
- Participants must be a licensed business in Penticton.
- Businesses must sign an Agreement and Waiver.
- Provide Required insurance with the City as Named Additional Insured (see Insurance below).
- The installation must be:
  Spectacular and professional in presentation
  Approved by the City (concept/ design)
  Winter-holiday themed with a focus on light
  Non-commercial
  Structurally sound and safe for the public (no inflatables)
  Resilient and Weatherproof (able to withstand a month of winter weather)
  Scaled to fill the space and designed within available electrical supply
- The Business is responsible for the regular inspection and maintenance of the display for the duration of the project.
The City will supply the space and access to electrical connections.

Cost
- Participants are asked to supply and maintain the installation. There is no cost to register in the program.
Promotion
Participating businesses will receive:
- Recognition through signage at their sponsored installation
- Mentions via the City’s social media posts related to this specific project
Insurance Requirements
- The City of Penticton shall be included as an “Additional Insured” on a Commercial General Liability policy.
- Such policy shall be written on a comprehensive basis with inclusive limits of not less than $3 million per occurrence.
- The policy shall contain a clause providing that the insurer will give the City thirty (30) days prior written notice in the event of cancellation or material change.
- The business shall provide the City with evidence of such insurance coverage in the form of an executed copy of a Certificate of Insurance to the City ten (10) days prior to installing the display.
Locations
There are 5 designated areas for installations in Rotary Park. These sites surround a 40’ tall light tree that will be installed in the center of the park. See below.

Santa Claus Parade & Light Up

Ho, ho, ho! This magical event features dozens of floats taking part in the Santa Claus Parade, followed by the official light up at Gyro Park.

The City will be offering a free Park ‘n’ Ride shuttle service through BC Transit from Cherry Lane Shopping Centre, operating on a continuous loop. More details coming soon.

Free Park & Ride Bus Service

The City is offering a free Park, Shop ‘n’ Ride shuttle service through BC Transit from Cherry Lane Shopping Centre, where residents can park, shop and ride downtown. This will operate on a continuous loop between the shopping centre and downtown Penticton. Simply hop on, hop off. More details to come!

The three bus stops will include the following, with a bus arriving every 15 minutes. The stops:
- Cherry Lane Shopping Centre (from the bus shelter on Atkinson Street, north of Warren Avenue)
- Martin Street at Wade Avenue
- Gyro Park (on Martin Street behind the park, near Lakeshore Drive)

Road Closure Details

A section of Main Street will be temporarily closed to traffic on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, to allow for the parade. Consider using the free BC Transit shuttle bus service. More details to come!

Seeking Volunteers

We're looking for volunteers to help during the parade! Duties include barricade intersection control, marshalling assistance and parade route support. If interested, please email volunteer@penticton.ca.
