The head of the Penticton RCMP has been inducted into the Order of Merit of the Police Forces by Governor General Mary Simon.
“We’re extremely proud of Superintendent Beth McAndie for receiving this honour, which acknowledges what we get to see every day in action,” says Mayor Julius Bloomfield. “The focus and dedication she shows every day is reflected by the combined efforts of the entire detachment to do the very best in protecting our residents. Through innovation and partnerships, the RCMP under Superintendent McAndie have a clear strategic plan as we move forward.”
The Order of Merit of the Police Forces celebrates outstanding contributions to law enforcement and public service. It acknowledges the exemplary careers of individuals in Canadian police services who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their profession and contributed to their communities and our country.
“Superintendent McAndie exemplifies the power of collaboration, bringing together diverse minds in her organization to tackle complex challenges,” says Julie Czeck, the City’s director of public safety. “Her commitment to involving the right people ensures that the best possible solutions are engineered through thoughtful insight and innovation. We cannot be prouder to have her part of our public safety network in Penticton.”
Last month, the RCMP also marked 50 years since the first female officers were sworn in. Today, there are 23 female RCMP members that are serving in the South Okanagan under Superintendent McAndie.
