Mayor Bloomfield has issued the following statement on behalf of Penticton City Council and the community regarding the tragic incident at CFB Wainwright:
"Like many Canadians, I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of life and injuries resulting from the incident at CFB Wainwright yesterday.
"On behalf of Penticton City Council and our community, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and fellow service members of those who were lost. Our thoughts are also with those recovering from injuries and the many military families facing an incredibly difficult time.
"This tragedy will be felt far beyond Wainwright. Communities across Canada, including here in the Okanagan, share deep connections to the Canadian Armed Forces and the people who serve our country with courage and dedication.
"We are grateful to the first responders, health-care workers and military personnel who continue to support those affected. Penticton stands with Wainwright in mourning, remembrance and support."
