Are you unsure about how much you pay for water? The City of Penticton has updated its utility bill statements to reflect the previous billing changes.
Earlier this year, the City moved to a tier-based system for charging residents based on water usage, as a means to support water conservation. This means that the less water you use, the less you pay.
The City is encouraging residents to review their bills to determine how much water your household is using.
Roughly half of Penticton homes fall into the Tier 1 category, which uses the lowest volume of water, and pay just over 2 cents per cubic foot. For context, one cubic foot is roughly 28 litres.
Tier 2 represents 80 per cent or less of the population, and pay roughly 3 cents per cubic foot.
Those households that reach Tier 3 are those paying for the highest volume of water, also at the highest rate of 3.5 cents per cubic foot.
