To mark the completion of year one of a five-year strategic plan for Economic Development, the City of Penticton has released its first ‘Year in Review’ report.
Presented to Council during their February 5 Committee of the Whole meeting, the report highlights the themes of collaboration through the creation of the Penticton Economic Development Partnership, communication through efforts to promote Penticton as a place to live, work and invest, and retention and expansion through initiatives like the Business Climate Survey and the Priority Cluster Identification Project.
“By ensuring information is both collected and made available, documents like this year in review report support Council’s priority of promoting investment and economic sustainability in our community,” said Penticton Mayor, John Vassilaki.“I encourage local businesses and residents to read this report; it does an excellent job of summarizing the work completed over the past year.”
“2018 served as a foundational year for the City’s Economic Development Department as it undertook steps to carryout year one of the strategic plan,” said Director of Development Services, Anthony Haddad. “This first annual report not only highlights the past year’s successes, it also shares local insights that businesses will find increasingly important in terms of attracting skilled labour and working age residents to Penticton.”
