This initiative to provide free parking on weekends downtown on Fridays and Saturdays for 5 weeks was approved by City Council, at an estimated cost of up to $2,500 per day in lost revenue, to support our downtown business community. The total estimated cost in lost revenue to the City for this initiative is roughly $25,000.

The Passport Parking Canada app provides the easiest way to pay for parking using your mobile phone. Registration takes two minutes and parking happens in a matter of seconds. You can also login to its secure website to access parking charges, history, profile information and print reports.

This app can be used at pay parking machines and coin operated. Just look for the parking zone sticker number and you're good to go!

Options for parking spaces within City of Penticton lots include hourly, monthly or annual rates. Hourly parking is available at the three pay station parking lots located East of Main street in the 200, 300 and 400 block lots. Paid parking is in effect Monday to Saturday (except statutory holidays) between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The hourly rate in City owned parking lots and on-street parking metres is $2.00/hour. 

Long-term parking can be purchased at City Hall.

You'll also find several private parking lots throughout Penticton, which are operated by Diamond Parking.

A Resident Parking Only area is designated to improve availability of on-street parking for the residents of that street block. It’s intended to restrict on-street parking in specific residential areas to local residents and their guests. Additional permits are available for guests and those with legal secondary suites.

Please ensure you activate your permit according to the included instructions and make sure it is clearly displayed in your vehicle.

• A request to implement a new Resident Only Parking Zone may be submitted to the Bylaw Department.    ​Part A and Part B petitions must first be completed, showing support from a minimum of 80 percent of residential dwelling units on both sides of the subject block (between two intersecting streets). This block must have insufficient off‐street parking available to residents to be considered. Completed forms Part A and Part B must be submitted as a complete package to the Bylaw Services Department located at #101-284 Main Street.

The City of Penticton uses accessible parking spaces to ensure those with disabilities have access to all amenities. 

Those with a valid disability placard or veteran plates can park are exempt from paid parking, with some conditions:

• Timed parking zone restrictions still apply
• Disability placards and veteran plates must be clearly visible and not be expired

Fees to park your vehicle with attached boat trailers are in effect as of May 1 for the Skaha Lake on-site lot and on-street parking South Main Street. See the map of permitted locations.

Half-day permits are $5.10 for up to 5 hours of parking, and full-day permits are $10.20 for 5 or more hours. These can be purchased at the ticket machine at Skaha Lake. If you launch your boat and then bring it elsewhere (friend's house, etc.) that allows trailer parking, there is no fee. Keep an eye out for related signs.

Annual permits for Penticton residents are $80.19 and non-residents are $120.28; both can be purchased at City Hall. This permit does not guarantee space, but you are able to park your vehicle and trailer in the on-site parking lot or permitted on-street parking. People are asked to provide proof of residency (photo ID, etc.) and permits must be hung from the rear view mirror so they are visible to enforcement staff.

You can use MyServices to pay for municipal parking tickets. For other options, including paying by mail or in person, and information about payment terms, visit the Bylaws payment information page.

To dispute a ticket, submit your reason for dispute and ticket number to bylaw_ticket_disputes@penticton.ca or in person or by mail to Unit 101-284 Main Street, Penticton BC V2A 5B2 within 14 days of ticket issue date.

On-street parking is regulated under the City of Penticton Traffic Bylaw No. 94-39.

To report a parking issue, email bylaw@penticton.ca to ask us to investigate. Ideally, send us a photo of the car and note the time, date and location of the vehicle, along with your contact info.
