Council seeks input on beach vending hub and license renewal

News Release

With an eye towards generating a vibrant and innovative waterfront, Penticton City Council has requested the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee explore the creation of beach vending hubs - specific zones that would host between four to eight venders in a single location, resulting in a unique experience for tourists and residents exploring the surrounding area.

This work is set to happen concurrently with a second request to the committee asking them to review and recommend whether or not to renew the beach vending licensing program for another three years.

To help inform the committee’s recommendation and assist Council with their decision, the City is inviting feedback from interested members of the community. Those wishing to share their thoughts can do so March 2 through March 9 by visiting www.shapeyourcitypenticton.ca.

“Council is looking forward to getting a recommendation back from the committee and hearing what the community thinks about both the renewal option and hub idea,” said Penticton Mayor, John Vassilaki.

The Committee will review the community’s feedback and consider the request at their meeting on March 11, 2021.
