We all play a part to keep each other safe. Our community is taking a united stand against intimate partner violence (domestic violence). Not in our neighbourhoods. Not in our friend groups. Not in our homes.
What is IPV?
Intimate partner violence (domestic violence) is harm caused by a current or former partner. It can be physical, sexual, emotional or psychological, financial or controlling behaviour (also called coercive control, like monitoring, isolating or making all the rules).
Abuse can also happen through technology; for example: stalking, threats or control using phones, apps or social media. It can happen to anyone.
Need Out?
You don't have to do it alone. Here in B.C., 14 people are killed each year by an intimate partner (BC Coroners). A community is here to help – just one click or call away.
If you are in immediate danger, get help:

See or Hear Something? Report it
Cases of intimate partner violence are up 46% in Penticton. Someone you know may be hurting. Your neighbour. Your coworker. Your friend. Don’t scroll past it.
Teens & Youth
Nearly half of teens (15-17) experience dating violence. Some don’t feel safe at home, either. If something feels off with a friend, don’t scroll past it. Notice it. Tell a trusted adult. Get help.
