Hiring & Workforce Housing Forum Boosts Okanagan Employers’ Hiring Power

In today’s digital marketplace, methods of recruiting are changing fast. Penticton’s Hiring & Workforce Housing Forum on Sept. 18 will give Okanagan employers and business leaders an opportunity to gain a competitive edge by beefing up their online presence. This includes an option to film their own recruitment video on-site with help from professional coaches.

Organized by the City of Penticton’s Economic Development Department, this ground-breaking event aims to arm employers from throughout the region with new tools to help them recruit and retain quality employees. The forum features interactive sessions, expert speakers and hands-on training, while also working together to tackle regional housing challenges.

For a nominal fee of $100, participants can opt to film their recruitment videos at the event, with help from experts along every step of the way. This option is only being offered to a limited number on a first-come, first-serve basis, so book your tickets today at hiringandhousingforum.com.

“In today’s virtual world, having a video that demonstrates your company culture can be a hugely beneficial marketing tool. We’re offering employers the opportunity to create professional videos at low cost, which they can use to promote their business workplaces on social media, their website and on recruitment sites such as StartHereOkanagan.com,” said event organizer Jennifer Vincent, who oversees Special Projects in Economic Development with the City of Penticton.

Five ways your business can benefit from having a recruitment video:

  1. Showcase your company culture to attract the right recruits.
  2. Post your video to social media to attract passive candidates who may not be actively job-seeking.
  3. Promote your brand and gain exposure by adding the video to all digital platforms. It will also be added to the recruitment site StartHereOkanagan.com.
  4. Videos posted to your website boost your search results on Google.
  5. Facebook ‘shares’ and other social media comments help spread the word about your workplace.

To book the video package, purchase your tickets on Eventbrite including the video option. City staff will be in contact to collect images, logos and other details ahead of the event.

The Hiring & Workforce Housing Forum will bring together hundreds of participants from throughout the region, combining two topic streams in one large-scale event.

“Hiring and Workforce Housing are such intricately-linked topics, it made sense to bring them together under one roof for this forum,” added Vincent. “The day is designed such that attendees can choose a single theme or flow back and forth between them as best suit their needs.”

Join employers, investors, developers, planners, planners, property managers, real estate and mortgage specialists, various levels of government and governing bodies, economic development specialists and other regional changemakers at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. This event is also relevant to those involved in education, regulation, housing, business support and development.
