Eckhardt Avenue Upgrades

This $5.5-million, multi-year project involves replacing aging underground infrastructure and adding traffic safety improvements to create a “complete street” upgrade that will serve residents for many years to come.

This project requires a road closure of Eckhardt Avenue, which will remain closed for the remainder of the 2026 school year. The overall project is anticipated to be completed in fall 2026. Watch this webpage for updates or sign up for email updates direct to your inbox.

Traffic Changes Coming Soon

Watch for traffic changes starting the week of Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, as the next phase of construction begins. On this date, vehicles travelling along Main Street will not be able to turn onto Eckhardt Avenue

The closure is required to allow for excavation and large equipment to upgrade water, storm and electrical infrastructure. In addition, multiple traffic safety improvements will be installed, including a flashing crosswalk beacon at Ellis Street and continuous sidewalks and bike lanes along the corridor.
